Whether it is one computer or several hundred on a network there is one thing that can set you apart from getting your computer comprised, a great password. You might ask what your password has to do with your overall computer system. Hackers will stop at nothing to access and will do everything in their power to achieve this. If these hackers have access to your password you might as well hand over the keys to your brand new car while you are at it. Before you are able to create a great password you need to be aware of what you should know and practice when using your passwords.

- Never be complacent in your password attacks can and they will happen. Those nasty little hackers will stop at nothing in an effort to gain access to your personal information. They usually three different methods in an effort to do this which is brute force, dictionary attacks, and as well as social engineering. The worst of these which is brute force is the most time consuming method that the hackers will use. This type of force involves a program that will try every combination of numbers and letters to guess your password. The longer your password is the harder it is to crack.
- What makes a bad password
- Because the attacks by hackers are becoming a lot more common you should not use anything in your password that is of the personal information nature. Some of this personal information includes such things as birthdates, names of family members, phone numbers, social security numbers, and nothing out that can be found in a dictionary among others.
- Safeguard
- By all means you need to protect your password. You should not by any means give your password out to anyone. You should also never write your password down and place it in places that are easy to find.
These are just a few tips that are available to help you protect your password. The more complex your password is as well as the lengthier it is makes you less susceptible to these would be hackers.
